I consider this to be true for nearly every human being. WE have several factors such as social convention, peer pressure, personal pressure, greed that get in the way of us doing what we should.

We don't need to agree with someone to have respect that their opinions are theirs. We absolutely should try to persuade them otherwise, should we disagree. But we should do so with logic and without dishonest tactics.
