Jerry Falwell was expecting the Rapture too, but it was not to be, as described by Christopher Hitchens: “The discovery of the carcass of Jerry Falwell on the floor of an obscure Virginia office, unraptured, has almost zero significance, except perhaps for two categories of the species labeled “credulous idiot.”

The key to success is to incentivize individuals’ to work toward worthy ideals, ones that satisfy their short term self-interest while accommodating longer term global interests.

As Carl Sagan said: “We live in a society exquisitely dependent on science and technology, in which hardly anyone knows anything about science and technology.”
Given that we are in the 21st century, that has to change.
