The universe is indifferent.

Why

I defer to Carl Sagan: "Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves."

I do not believe the Universe is indifferent. If it did not care to put on all this great show called Life, we would not be here. You are truly the Universe; are YOU indifferent to your own existence?
Why do you need saving from yourself? Could you not act as your own savior? I love Carl Sagan, I’m just pondering on why he was so dualistic. With the knowledge he had, he must have realized that we are not lost in space but are right at home.
